Viewer
The Viewer add-on was conceived to extend the Quintet.net performance into the visual domain. Using Jitter (the Max matrix processing objects) this component possesses a number of live video-processing algorithms, which can either be controlled by a timeline or manually. Its open architecture accommodates new modules which can be added by the user. The media, which the algorithms operate on, can be video clips, live video streams and/or real-time music notation, and can be mixed and superimposed in 2D and 3D at will. The algorithms in turn can be controlled by the actions of the musicians. Thus, the Viewer enables composers/artists to create complex art works in which the visual components represent an independent, and, in its own right, equal formal element. In a performance, several Viewers can be used at once.
